Penglipuran Village is a traditional Balinese village located in the Kubu Subdistrict, Bangli Regency of Bali, Indonesia. The village has earned recognition for its commitment to maintaining traditional architecture, customs and way of life. The community has implemented various measures to preserve its cultural heritage while embracing responsible tourism practices.  

 These efforts aim to strike a balance between allowing visitors to experience and appreciate the unique village culture and ensuring the well-being of the local community and environment. Bamboo as a resource

Bamboo is available in abundance in Penglipuran. It is a versatile resource used for construction, handicrafts, furniture, and even traditional ceremonies and rituals.

The village is capitalising on their resources including establishing the bamboo forest as a new tourist attraction by planting more varieties of bamboos and using the unused or residue of bamboo for compost.

Additionally, workshops have been implemented where visitors can learn traditional crafts like basket weaving using bamboo, making traditional Balinese offerings, and practicing how to decorate bamboo called Penjor.
