nostalgia de haber sido cuna de los m\u00edticos buscadores de oro, fiebre que s\u00f3lo dej\u00f3 bocaminas, excavaciones y viejas historias de mineros.<\/p><p>La Carolina est\u00e1 ubicada a 86 km de la ciudad de San Luis a unos 1.600 metros sobre el nivel del mar. El pueblo, nacido gracias al af\u00e1n de explotar recursos mineros, fue llamado \u201cLa Carolina\u201d en honor a Carlos III de Espa\u00f1a.<\/p><p>La Carolina, es un testimonio viviente del esplendor de la miner\u00eda de oro. Debido a sus caracter\u00edsticas \u00fanicas en la provincia de San Luis y en Argentina, La Carolina fue nombrada como uno de los \u201cpueblos aut\u00e9nticos\u201d del pa\u00eds, un reconocimiento reservado a lugares que cuentan con patrimonio hist\u00f3rico bien conservado y manejado.<\/p><p>Hoy, convertido en uno de los principales destinos tur\u00edsticos de la Provincia, atrae visitantes que realizan expediciones al interior de las minas, visitas a la Iglesia de Piedra, cabalgatas, subida al Tomolasta y la visita al Museo de la Poes\u00eda Manuscrita, la Casa de Juan Cris\u00f3stomo Lafinur.<\/p><p>Uno de los principales atractivos naturales y culturales es la gruta \u201cInti Huasi\u201d o \u201cCasa del Sol\u201d donde se han encontrado registros de culturas abor\u00edgenes de hace 9.000 a\u00f1os. Esta gruta es considerada como uno de los yacimientos arqueol\u00f3gicos prehist\u00f3ricos m\u00e1s importantes de Am\u00e9rica y es visitado por miles de personas cada a\u00f1o.
