La aldea debe su nombre a la encantadora \u00abCascada de Lephis\u00bb, que atraviesa un denso bosque de la \u00abZona Forestal de Gambo\u00bb, administrada por la Empresa Forestal y de Fauna Salvaje de Oromia. El pueblo presenta la localidad como una iniciativa de turismo comunitario bajo la marca \u201cLephis Ecotourism Village\u201d.

La \u00abAldea Ecotur\u00edstica Lephis\u00bb destaca como una notable iniciativa de turismo comunitario, apoyada por la Alianza Et\u00edope de Turismo Sostenible (ESTA), que ha culminado con \u00e9xito un largo proceso desde el dise\u00f1o del proyecto, los estudios de viabilidad y la participaci\u00f3n activa de la comunidad. Esto no s\u00f3lo ha llevado al reconocimiento del lugar, sino que tambi\u00e9n le ha valido elogios a nivel nacional e internacional.<\/p>

El \u00e9xito empresarial de la aldea viene de los esfuerzos de las distintas partes interesadas en mantener la estructura tradicional de la aldea, el funcionamiento empresarial y la creatividad en el marco de la Cooperativa de Ecoturismo Lephis, incluso durante las dificultades del COVID-19 y las fluctuaciones del mercado.

Lephis se ha establecido como una comunidad tur\u00edstica unida, suficientemente creativa como para producir y suministrar atractivos productos tur\u00edsticos locales. El programa de visitas est\u00e1 dirigido por gu\u00edas tur\u00edsticos profesionales, la producci\u00f3n y venta de artesan\u00eda est\u00e1 gestionada por mujeres de la zona y los lugare\u00f1os organizan servicios de equitaci\u00f3n. Asociaci\u00f3n de artesan\u00eda Mishike<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

La aldea dio prioridad a las mujeres subrepresentadas y\/o a los desempleados para que se dedicaran al negocio de producci\u00f3n y venta de artesan\u00edas y, por lo tanto, estableci\u00f3 la Asociaci\u00f3n de Artesan\u00eda Mishike. Esta asociaci\u00f3n simboliza a Lephis y es reconocida como la m\u00e1s creativa en el uso de la hierba y los \u00e1rboles de bamb\u00fa locales como recursos para crear artesan\u00edas art\u00edsticas con adornos locales. La Asociaci\u00f3n de Artesan\u00eda Mishike estaba dirigida predominantemente por mujeres que se beneficiaron econ\u00f3micamente y, posteriormente, transformaron la vida de sus familias. De tal manera, la mayor\u00eda de los miembros inicialmente se transformaron y comenzaron nuevos negocios, incluso creando empleos para otros. Por lo tanto, la cooperativa reemplaza proporcionalmente a los nuevos participantes, incluidos los discapacitados. Los miembros de los productores y vendedores de artesan\u00edas viajaron a la India y adquirieron experiencia en algunas de las mejores empresas artesanales, y el programa supuso un cambio de paradigma para sus miembros. La aldea tambi\u00e9n recibe apoyo continuo de las autoridades locales en forma de acceso a financiaci\u00f3n, apoyo t\u00e9cnico y amplios v\u00ednculos con el mercado. El pueblo convirti\u00f3 su tradici\u00f3n hist\u00f3rica de festival de equitaci\u00f3n en uno de los productos tur\u00edsticos clave que ofrece el pueblo, que el turista puede interactuar f\u00e1cilmente con la comunidad local y comprar el paquete tur\u00edstico que se organiza regularmente y previa solicitud. El acontecimiento que vivi\u00f3 la comunidad local durante siglos estuvo acompa\u00f1ado de diferentes ceremonias de las actividades culturales Arsi-Oromo de alabanza, cantos y folklore tradicional. La creaci\u00f3n de la Cooperativa de Ecoturismo Lephis tiene como objetivo hacer del turismo de naturaleza un medio econ\u00f3mico complementario para la comunidad. Antes de la transformaci\u00f3n de la aldea en un negocio tur\u00edstico formal designado, los abundantes recursos naturales quedaron descuidados y solo se utilizaron para el simple consumo diario de la vida.<\/p>

El gran paraguas de la cooperativa alberga diferentes asociaciones establecidas con sus propios prop\u00f3sitos \u00fanicos y trabajan por una visi\u00f3n s\u00f3lida. La conservaci\u00f3n del bosque y los servicios de alojamiento respetuosos con el medio ambiente que ofrece la comunidad son negocios s\u00f3lidos y altamente compatibles con la sostenibilidad.<\/p>

La aldea inici\u00f3 la iniciativa utilizando dinero inicial con peque\u00f1as cantidades recaudadas de los hogares. Posteriormente, la iniciativa local gener\u00f3 una inversi\u00f3n basada en proyectos con la ayuda de USAID a trav\u00e9s del proyecto de la Alianza Et\u00edope de Turismo Sostenible (ESTA), que cre\u00f3 una s\u00f3lida base empresarial en forma de cooperativa. El proyecto sent\u00f3 efectivamente las bases, estableciendo instalaciones tur\u00edsticas que ofrecieron programas de desarrollo de capacidades y v\u00ednculos comerciales.
