kil\u00f3metros del centro colonial de La Antigua Guatemala, la Aldea San Crist\u00f3bal El Alto se encuentra a 1,840 metros sobre el nivel del mar, en el departamento de Sacatep\u00e9quez. El pueblo goza de un clima templado de monta\u00f1a, con temperaturas que oscilan entre los 14 y 19 grados Celsius, rodeado de bosques y paisajes agr\u00edcolas. Fundada en 1530 durante el per\u00edodo colonial espa\u00f1ol, alberga una comunidad maya kaqchikel que contin\u00faa preservando su idioma ancestral, sus expresiones culturales y sus pr\u00e1cticas tradicionales. Con una poblaci\u00f3n de 625 habitantes, todos alfabetizados, San Crist\u00f3bal El Alto se sostiene a trav\u00e9s de la agricultura a peque\u00f1a escala, la ganader\u00eda y la producci\u00f3n artesanal. La comunidad cuenta con infraestructura educativa b\u00e1sica para los niveles preescolar y primario, y celebra a su santo patr\u00f3n, San Crist\u00f3bal, cada agosto con festividades religiosas y culturales. El turismo aqu\u00ed se enfoca en la autenticidad y la participaci\u00f3n comunitaria, ofreciendo experiencias que conectan a los visitantes con la gastronom\u00eda local, la artesan\u00eda y senderos Alto est\u00e1 desarrollando un proyecto para convertirse en el primer \u201cPueblo Jard\u00edn\u201d de Guatemala, inspirado en las referencias encontradas en la Recordaci\u00f3n Florida de Fuentes y Guzm\u00e1n. La iniciativa busca revivir una tradici\u00f3n ancestral en la que los habitantes de la zona sol\u00edan adornar La Antigua Guatemala con flores. Hoy en d\u00eda, la comunidad trabaja colectivamente para reintroducir este patrimonio mediante la creaci\u00f3n de jardines comunales, la restauraci\u00f3n del paisaje y programas de educaci\u00f3n ambiental. El proyecto promueve la participaci\u00f3n c\u00edvica, realza el valor est\u00e9tico de los espacios p\u00fablicos y fortalece la conciencia ambiental.
